DIY Lazy Susan Garage Storage Cabinet

Materials Needed:

Plywood:

• 3/4" (19.05 mm) thick for the cabinet structure.
• 1/4" (6.35 mm) thick for the back panel.

Pegboard:

• 1/4" (6.35 mm) thick for side panels.

Lumber:

• 1x4 (3.5" x 0.75" or 88.9 mm x 19.05 mm) for framing and door construction.

Hardware:

• 12" (304.8 mm) Lazy Susan hardware.
• Concealed hinges for doors.
• Shelf pins for adjustable shelves.
• 1 1/4" (31.75 mm) pocket hole screws.
• Wood screws (5/8" or 15.88 mm and 1 1/4" or 31.75 mm).

Finishing Materials:

• Paint or stain.
• Screen molding for edge finishing (optional).

Tools Required:

• Circular saw.
• Drill with Kreg pocket-hole jig.
• Brad nailer.
• Sandpaper or orbital sander.
• Paintbrushes or rags for finishing.

Cut List:

Sides:

• 2 pieces at 18" x 30" (457 mm x 762 mm).

Top and Bottom:

• 2 pieces at 18" x 24" (457 mm x 610 mm).

Shelves:

• 2 pieces at 18" x 24" (457 mm x 610 mm).

Back Panel:

• 1 piece at 24" x 30" (610 mm x 762 mm).

Pegboard Side Panels:

• 2 pieces at 24" x 30" (610 mm x 762 mm).

Optional Doors:

• 2 pieces at 12" x 24" (305 mm x 610 mm).

Assembly Steps:

1. Cut the Pieces:

1. • Use a circular saw to cut all plywood and pegboard pieces according to the dimensions provided above.
2. Drill Pocket Holes:   

• Set up your Kreg pocket-hole jig for 3/4" (19.05 mm) material and drill pocket holes in the edges of the top, bottom, and sides where they will be joined.

1. Assemble the Cabinet Frame:

   • Attach the top and bottom pieces to the side panels using 1 1/4" (31.75 mm) Kreg pocket-hole screws. Ensure everything is square and flush.

2. Attach the Back Panel:

   • Apply wood glue to the back edges of the cabinet frame and secure the 1/4" (6.35 mm) plywood back panel using brad nails.

3. Install Pegboard Side Panels:  

• • Attach the 1/4" (6.35 mm) pegboard side panels to the sides of the cabinet using wood glue and brad nails.

1. Install Shelves:

1. • Decide on the shelf positions and drill pocket holes along the sides of the cabinet. Install the shelves at the desired height using shelf pins or screws.

2. Optional Doors:

1. • If adding doors, attach concealed hinges to the sides of the cabinet and secure the doors in place.

2. Install Lazy Susan Hardware:

1. • Attach the 12" (304.8 mm) Lazy Susan hardware to the bottom of the cabinet and the base, following the manufacturer's instructions.

2. Finish the Cabinet:

   • Sand all surfaces smooth and apply paint or stain as desired.

3. Mounting:

• • Use screws to mount the cabinet to the wall. Ensure it is securely attached to studs or a solid backing.
